making friends with girls
Good morning. I am drinking coffee out of the editors’ mug and am having poached eggs and wheat toast. I feel good this morning even though I woke up a few different times during the night. At least I’m not at the office today.
I hung out with todd (the-loupe guy) and his lovely girlfriend, dr. lara. I met them at typhoon (ritzel’s recommendation!) at the santa monica airport. I would say it was the perfect spot to meet for drinks. we didn’t sample any of the crickets or the scorpion seahorse juice (next time!), but i got a healthy dose of nice, fun, good conversation. they made me laugh a lot. one thing for sure is that that kind of social interaction is making me a happier person.
meeting new girls can be kind of weird. most of the time they try to find some reason not to like you before they even know you, like, “omg, that skirt went out two years ago.” or they eyeball you. or they pretend they’re nice but are really trying to break you down, “oh that’s great you got a masters, but you never went on for a phd?” you know how girls are. you’ve seen elimidate.
I guess i could confess that I was a bit nervous about meeting dr. lara. i knew she was gorgeous and brilliant, and here i am, a weird “internet friend” of her boyfriend. is she going to be mean to me. is she going to test my medical editor knowledge. is she going to diagnose me with something lame. haha. no. you know what dr. lara did?
she walked into the bar and saw me even before Todd did and lit up and smiled and said hi. we hugged. and then talked about becoming a serial killer who kills the oldest person alive. she is so funny and nice. no cattiness whatsoever. high five on harrison ford. i ended up making a new friend, what great luck. is that considered a zap? i think so!
Discovering new places and people is cool. Get out there. Eat crickets. Make friends. Tell jokes. celebrate celebrate and celebrate the mere fact that you can celebrate whatever the hell you want. oh my goodness, it’s 10:45am. cheers for god’s sake.

To all my internet fans, I am the one in the middle.
I am looking forward to many more such events, and have already started building my Rose Bowl float made out of gouda cheese to share with the transient population of Pasadena. We can call it “The Parade Of Snacks!”
As far as diagnosis, hmmn. Let me go over your stool sample results again and I’ll get back to you.
