bad luck tired

Filed under: what's really going on — realjennykim @ 1:54 am

i took a nap after work and had weird dreams.  Like miki went to college and had the weirdest dorm room.  her bed was the top shelf of something and she had this giant green plastic cup.  i pointed to it and said, “that’s cool.”

made steak fajitas and did some more pub tax stuff.  nothing exciting.

one of my tires has a big hole in it.  i might have to return to the tire shop tomorrow, though it’s likely i’ll put it off and then regret it.

i’ve been wanting to ride my bicycle lately.  if i didn’t have such a dudley bike i might consider biking to work some time.  maybe i’ll get a joiners bike.  i’ll ask bike mike what he thinks.  haha.

i’m off to read and then sleep.

i took the bus today for the first time in a long time.  it was easier and more convenient than driving.  the buses have little flatscreens that air “transit tv” now.  starring dane cook and that guy from the milk commercial who loses the sweepstakes because no one can understand his pbj-muddled “aaron burr”.  the metro sure has changed.  the backdoor opens automatically now, but the upholstery on the seats is still that turquoise and pink fiesta dorito kind of design and the signal for the driver to stop is still a pull cord, which seems like it needs to be upgraded.  i have many memories of taking public transportation in and around los angeles.  like getting stranded by it at 4am, and then doing the unthinkable.  (skating home 20 miles.  haha)

i tried to repair my spin bike today.  it makes a knocking noise when i pedal.  i tightened up some of the bolts and screws, but guess what, the knocking noise got louder.  of course it did.   i will have to ask bike mike to come fix it.  that would be the weirdest.

i’m tired.  i’m going to read and then nap for a few hours before i have to go to work.

blood pressure

i went to jiffy lube on tuesday and i specifically remember the guy saying that he inflated all of my tires to 40 psi.  well, yesterday before my brother and i went to philippe’s, my brother noticed that one of my tires was very low.  i inflated it and it seemed okay, but i still thought it was weird.  so i went to the tire place today to have it checked for a leak or a nail.  right when i got to the tire center, my brother texted me, asking me what was up with the tire.  i don’t know, i just thought it was really cool that he was concerned enough to follow up on it.  nobody else really did or would, we all have our own made-up problems to deal with i guess.  when i told him they didn’t find anything wrong with the tire, he texted back:  “weird.  it was jiffy lube!”

i wasn’t feeling well today.  fatigue, switchmode appetite, sour stomach, and moodiness.  there’s a good chance i’ll call in sick.

lost and bit-o-honey

my mom canceled on wednesday night dinner so i treated my brother to french dip sandwiches at philippe’s.  he had never been there before, but he liked it although he acknowledged the inefficiency of the counter service several times.  i also noticed the hot mustard on the tables are now in squirt bottles.  they used to be in those little jars with tiny spoons.  i picked up the squirt bottle and gave it a little squeeze while sniffing the lid to make sure it was mustard, but the fumes got in my eye.  my eye burned and watered up!  my brother thought i was exaggerating.  later he did the same thing, squeezed a little poof of mustard gas near his eye, and acted like his eye was burning.  I thought he was joking until i saw how red and watery it was.  it was really funny to me.  pepper spray must be even more fun.

dr. terry told me the kogi taco truck was going to be in town tonight.  i kind of wanted to try them just to try them, but i think if i took some corn tortillas over to my mom’s house, i could just make my own bulgogi tacos.  i’ll ask dr. terry what he thinks.

i have acid reflux now, but it’s not from the french dip or hot mustard.

i should sleep even though i want to stay awake and talk.

after work i met marco in old town.  we had dinner at the tibetan restaurant, where the service is really kind and the flavors are 1+1=3.  we drank himalayan blue, which is a good beer.  we stopped in at the pub for a bit where bike mike made me laugh as usual.  it’s really fun drinking beer after work.

afterwards, we finished entering data for the taxes.  i was really tired, but somehow i managed to do five chin-ups.  five.  in a row, cheater style, but marco said they were good and acceptable.  however, he did suggest that i fully extend and go for quality, not quantity.  yes.

you can do anything you set your mind to, america.

Hi.  tonight we did more taxes.  then went to the pub where i drank newcastle and ate peanuts.  i met a really cute asian girl who likes hawaii, wine, dogs, and being alone.  can you believe it.  at one point in our conversation, she said, “wait, have we met before?”  haha.  too bad i gave up on making new friends or meeting my “soul sister.”  otherwise i might have asked her if she’s into skateboarding or what she thought of hermione lee’s biography on edith wharton.

“i hate reading, unless it’s us weekly.”

today went fast, but i feel like this might be another long week.  i want to sleep, and more.

p.s.  i heard an advertisement on the radio today for shamrock shakes.  yay.  though unavailable in canada, sorry.

my appetite has been in switchmode lately.  after work i was starving.  i went to my mom’s house and ate an afterschool snack while drinking unfiltered sake.  then i sat at the breakfast table and worked on a crossword puzzle while my brother cooked hamburgers and macaroni and cheese.  it was fun and delicious, though i complained about the brioche buns.  too doughy.

i was really tired and just watched television and relaxed.  i’m totally ready for bed now.

oh, on the way home, i almost hit a car in my blind spot.  when the driver pulled over in front of his house, i gave a wave to acknowledge my bad as i passed by.  but after i passed he pulled away from the curb and started following me.  i turned down a weird street to see if he would too, and he did.  i was going to let him follow me all the way to the police station, but he turned back around because the weird street probably got too weird for him.

last night i had a dream i was skateboarding really well.  not all fake and crazy like frontside flips over picnic tables, but more like cruising and ollieing off curb cuts and stuff.  i made a little skate friend who was an 11-year-old tomboy who skated all awesome.  she told me that that was the last day she could skate with me because she was going to jail the following day for “neo-slicing” someone at school with bromelain.  apparently neo-slicing means killing someone by poisoning them with eg, pineapple enzyme.  i was sad because i really liked skateboarding with her.

i just googled ddw.  attending would be a dream come true.

i irish coffee’d og ritzelstyle, green beer’d, and lil devil’d.  i think i did most things proper for saint patrick’s day.  even walked into mcdonald’s (to purchase some fries…) to see whether shamrock shakes were still available, but (to my surprise…) we walked out because the service was nonexistent.  on to burger king, highland park division, where i ordered two crunchy tacos but couldn’t eat them because i hated them.  I’ve changed.  i love to hate food now.  i hope those tacos drop dead.

i’m off to sleep now.  tomorrow (today) is wednesday, i need to be in good shape for it.

after work i exercised, took a bath, ate dinner, and then i filed my taxes while drinking jasmine tea.  i also prepared the flask that jonocorp gave me.  poured some fake bailey’s in it.  it’ll probably get me thrown out of the pub.

i could totally go to sleep right now.  all early, like the normal people in your office.  except i’m not tired.

i hope you have a happy and safe saint patrick’s day.  i’m going to read about digestive motility now.

happy weekend.  it’s saturday night pretty early and i’m already in my pajamas and in bed.  it feels really good since i’m pretty tired.

last night we went to the knitting factory to see ben weasel.  screeching weasel has been one of my favorite bands since high school.  they broke up before i ever got a chance to see them live and i thought it would never happen, but guess what, ben weasel and vapid and some other dudes came and played and it was unreal.  the set list was all my favorite songs except maybe two.  i saw my dear skate buddy mikey “crowd surfing” during teenage freakshow.  and also ran into j lee.  and nayce!  oh, and cotton. ?.  i was not expecting the show to be that great since i’m not 15 anymore and don’t really care much about silly pop punk bands, but hey, it was pretty awesome.  also, ben weasel gave me a hug.

today marco woke me up early and then we went to the wholesale beverage place to stock up the pub.  i usually like going there, but this time there weren’t any tequila girls passing out free samples or anything.  but the staff is always helpful and we got fancy wine openers for free.  yay.  then we went to clean the pub where i learned how to change the kegs.  it is hard heavy work.  it would be more fun if the kegs were see-through and if i had special keg-changing gloves to wear.

now i’m home relaxing with charlotte.  she just sighed.  we’re going to watch television.
