spent some time in santa barbara to celebrate marco’s mom’s birthday and cheers to another year of jameson shots. i had a wonderful time. the birthday party took place in a really neat house where we all frolicked and chatted about golfing and yachting over glasses of wine. i like parties like that. lots of nice people and i’m glad marco has a nice family. his mom looks really amazing for her age.
we stayed the night in a “really nice” suite right across the street from the beach. weeell, it wasn’t really “really nice” like the kid at the front desk said, but it had tons of charm and the view was lovely. and you know i mostly care about charms and views. we hung out briefly at a silly college bar (with ping-pong tables!) where drinks were cheap and the crowd was lame. then we went to one of my favorite bars where superbartender works. for days before the trip i had been planning on ordering some kind of blue martini, and i did. blue curacao, grey goose, pineapple juice, cointreau. it was good. let the blue martini trend begin.

we finished the night by grabbing a snack from my favorite hotdog place. i love that place.
the next morning marco treated me to breakfast and to some more libations. i ate some poached eggs on the wrong toast with some great coffee. then we walked around downtown and drank some excellent margaritas made by potential superbartender2. i had never been to that particular mexican restaurant before, but it sure is neat in there. people around were mostly drinking mimosas or bloody marys, which is fun. afterwards, we checked out stearns wharf like tourists, ate some snacks, and drank snakebites. someone copied us and got a snakebite too. then that person got a blue martini.
i was tired and fell asleep on the drive back. i’m still pretty tired so i think i’ll hit the hay now. charlotte and i are happy to be in our normal bed.
