Filed under: what's really going on — realjennykim @ 7:04 pm

happy new year’s eve.

today i went to the korean market and then exercised.  i just drank some wine and now i am high on my own oxytocin.  i feel like i want to bake coconut rum cupcakes but i know i would eat them all.

be safe partying tonight.  i’m so glad 2007 is over.  hasta la vista.

also, they keep saying that buzzed driving is drunk driving.

biking was a lot of fun yesterday.  rode to the bar in highland park and then down to south pasadena to the art gallery and onward.  my bum cheeks are a bit sore from the bicycle seat.

not sure what the plan is for today.  slept in and am getting a late start.  wouldn’t have done it any other way though.

saturday afternoon ride

happy saturday.  i am viewing the cooking programs on pbs and chilling out.  soon i will hop on my bike for a local snack and beverage.  i used my new air compressor to inflate my bicycle tires.  it was very convenient.  i will need to wear gloves while i cycle.

i hope you are enjoying the weekend.

breakfast at night

happy friday.

i was so tired today. i cut out of work early and then made rice krispies treats but i added peanuts, almonds, chocolate, coconut, and some subtle raisins. maybe you want to eat it.

then i ate risotto and drank chocolate milk + protein powder and passed out on the couch for a couple of hours. the chocolate milk was lactose-free, fat-free, and sugar-free. “and taste-free! *insert laugh track*”

i might make pancakes later on. might ride my bike to the wine bar in the morning.

does sleeping on the couch make you feel alone? might begin to see the light.

christmas passed too quickly.  i had fun lounging and eating leftovers and playing with my new gadgets and lying out in the south american sun on my new beach towel while listening to some creamy tunes on my new portable radio at the beach.  that was fun.

today i baked coconut banana bread and took some over to my mom.  i enjoy baking again.  i still have some coconut left so i might make white coconut rum cupcakes.  maybe this weekend.

it is windy and cold.  i want to be under the covers with charlotte and watch something more entertaining than infomercials.

i keep forgetting about the new year.

merry christmas!  I am at my mom’s house for our family christmas eve dinner.  i made macaroni and cheese and creamed spinach and brought over the rum cake and tiramisu.  my mom made seafood alfredo pasta, a big ham, stuffing, and pineapple fried rice.  we are having a late dinner this year because my brother and edna are on their way with potatoes and mushroom risotto.  we are going to have a weird mix of food in our stomachs, it’s going to be deliciously gross or disgustingly delicious.  i am full from all the appetizers, egg nog, and wine.  i may have to pull the old hollow leg out of storage and see whether it still fits.  but i feel like i need a nap now.

i told my mom she might not like the cake because there is too much rum in it, and she said, “i love rum cake!” like a little boy. it was cool.

anyway, wine rules.

i hope you get something you want this christmas.  i did.

be safe and enjoy.

have your cake and drink it too

I just made pineapple upside down rum cake.  i added pecans and coconut and it tastes so boozy.  I pretty much drenched the entire cake with cups of bacardi.  yay.  i also made tiramisu, but i forgot to add the full amount of cheese, i hope nobody will notice.  i also used wanna-be kahlua, lots of it, so the whole thing is kind of a mess.  what other booze desserts can we make.

earlier today i went to bristol farms.  i keep forgetting about that place, but there is a lot of good food there.  then i had coffee in south pasadena with the marcos.  i drank a soy latte for the first time in a long time.  then i got a tutorial on lockpicking.  i better practice.

the peach gave me a famous grouse chocolate which was cute.

the rum cake is making me sleepy…

about the house

here i am on saturday morning brewing my coffee, except it’s not morning anymore.  charlotte let me sleep in which was great.  hooray for the doggy door.

lots of things on the agenda today.  mostly housecleaning (while watching the cooking programs) and exercise and grocery shopping.  i need to find a metal D ring so i can transform my total gym into a pilates reformer.  maybe i’ll do that.

i’m excited about being at home today.  my coffee is ready!

the company christmas party was all right.  my coworker ordered a virgin margarita, but the bartender made a virgin bloody mary.  so my other coworker went back to the bar to get the margarita, but she came back with a bloody mary too!  it was funny to me.  the party was boring but painless.  and it was nice to see luke and his fancy tie.  when my boss was speaking into the mic i could tell he was a little buzzed.  it was cute.  also, the guy who i’ve been working with for seven years who thinks my name is jill, called me jill today.  it was rad.

after the party i stopped by the pub for a stout beer.  then i went home and served the cheese, crackers, and wine that i won in the raffle.  i also ate chocolate and half of a pineapple.  it was good.

Had a yule wrappin’ party tonight.  dinner and egg nog and early christmas morning explosion aftermath in my living room.  it was awesome.  I’m so ready for the beach.

tomorrow is the company christmas party.  the building closes at 11:45, which rules.  i love daytime open bar.

i am liking this christmas stuff very much this year.  it is also very cold and windy tonight.  thoughts can keep you warm.
