love and bass

Last night was fun. I went to the pub to see mike watt and the missingmen play. missed the first part of the show, but what i did see and hear was pretty awesome. mike watt is a rad guy. after the show, i asked him to sign a couple of his books for me. when i pulled the books out of my sac, he put his hand on his chest like he was honored that i even had those weird books. then he gave me a tight sweaty hug. i love legendary old punk rock dudes. mike watt was wearing a flannel shirt.

after the show i found luna in the back patio, and she was looking extra-amazing. her new haircut and sexy highlighted locks were hot.  I wore my hair up because I don’t really like my new haircut very much.  i don’t even want to show you.

i also met some of marco’s buddies, i guess they are amazing “chopper” and “hot rod” artist dudes or something. not sure. I just thought they were cool because they talked to me about three of my favorite things: food, books, and three’s company. I felt social and normal last night.

have you ever had vegemite. I never have. I’m going to try to hook some up.

i’m going to drink some more coffee and get this saturday going now. i hope i will feel social and normal tonight as well.

1am and I’m so awake.  ate at the famous pizza place in eagle rock for the first time ever.  didn’t care much for the canned mushrooms or the buttery extra-salty crust, but the ravioli and chianti were good.  then met up with nickers and company for her birthday celebration.  i had a good time, she is fun-spirited.  the bar we went to is officially bad luck for me though.  i may never go there ever again.

how i spent my favorite day of the work week (except for friday)

Filed under: what's really going on — realjennykim @ 2:39 am

today was nice. i had lunch at my mom’s house. she made me a really groovy potato pancake among other delicious things.

after work i went shopping at a couple of the local thrift stores. Got a fire king plate (gave it to marco), a cute green glass minipitcher for coffee cream (or soy sauce if you’re chinese like i am), and popsicle molds. i made coffee popsicles, but i haven’t sampled them yet. i’ll probably make the orange 50/50 vodka pops and some sort of bailey’s kind also. at some point i will google “popsicle recipes”.

i watched kitchen nightmares. it was all right. now i want to eat indian food with a rotten tomato and a roach in it while you eat a green hamburger.

did some cardio at the gym and total gym at home and now my knees are sore.

stopped by my friend’s house and watched a little bit of a movie. my eyelids began to get heavy and we realized i had to get back home to make curfew. i left just in time.  i felt like a kid again because i had more self-discipline when i was a kid than i do now.

now i am home. loved a wednesday again.

i should go to bed now, but i’m really not that disciplined.  but i am tired, so maybe.

welcome to the pleasure dome

It’s bedtime.  I just got out of the shower and I feel pretty good.  i was exhausted after work because for some reason getting a decent night’s sleep for once always makes me tired the next day.  maybe it’s an adjustment thing.  it’s always kind of a drag when you have to make adjustments.  most of the time you just want to go.

i woke up thinking it was saturday.  what a disappointment.

tonight i exercised at the gym.  i’m trying to reverse all the joyhog villasenor i’ve been doing to myself.  yeah right, but at least it’s on my mind.  then i witnessed the inauguration of the pleasure dome, among other short films.  kinda nutty, fun to see.

i’m pretty sleepy.

I survived another monday, it was actually pretty easy. after work I had dinner at philippe’s with jonny. i remember the last time i ate there before this time. this time we chilled and caught up on things. It’s so nice to be friendly and normal. I feel bad for the couples who break up and feel like they have to “prove” that they’re better than the other. your ex ought to be happy if you outdo them or if you outdo yourself. speaking of outdoing myself, saw the white family with the redheaded black albino stepchild at the restaurant.

I watched an episode of Who’s the boss? tonight. Alyssa Milano is way cool!

i’m already in my pajamas. I think i will go to bed early tonight.

today was the annual kung fu class end-of-summer/sifu’s birthday barbecue.  it is my favorite barbecue of the year.  everyone has a good time and the food is awesome.  this year the deerslayer’s best friend (the boozing best man that said, “they know where to find me if they need me”) attended the event and the dude brought some elk that he had shot himself in wyoming.  i’m not a fan of animal hunting, but i must say i enjoyed the meat.  the elk head is still in the guy’s garage.  he also hunts turkeys, but he wouldn’t demo his turkey call for me.  the deerslayer’s wife and her big pregnant belly were there too.  she has a nice sense of humor and made some pretty funny jokes about bad motherhood.  i drank lots of beer and engaged in drunken chi sao.  a bit of a disaster but totally fun.

i had a fun weekend.  i hate when it’s monday again, but it’s all very okay.

well, i’m about to go to bed.  not much happened today.  it was cold, but i kind of liked it.

i’m so happy it’s friday.  tomorrow evening i’m going to watch everwood while eating popcorn.

After work I went to trader joe’s and ran into one of my professors from grad school. He recognized me and said, “didn’t i have you in one of my classes?” he didn’t remember my name, but he remembered a lot of other details about my work (the papers i wrote) and behavior in class (class clown; no.) I used to not like him because he was the pompous semi-gay hipster intellectual professor, but after today’s chance meeting, i’ve squashed those feelings of dislike. he said a lot of kind things and said he’d write me a letter of recommendation if I ever needed one. I was surprised. i remember the class had a potluck party at his condo for the final examination. i took a six-pack of pacifico and someone passed out after one beer. he said he lives in the same place and has remodeled since then. he lives very close to me. he asked me whether I would have approached him had he not approached me first. I said, “no. actually, this is the second time I’ve seen you here.” he’s on sabbatical “doing research.” academics is such a joke. rick hoffman (from hostel) reminds me of him.

i watched some more everwood tonight and wrote a blog for gltr about the s3 supergirl jam. it hasn’t posted yet. i need to write about the skate contest too, but i’m so tired. too tired to perform bicep curls too.

good night.

welcome to monday

after work i cruised over to my mom’s house to pick up charlotte. charlotte and i were happy to see each other, we kept crashing teeth. then we ate fried (but not really fried) zucchini and silken tofu patties and a bunch of mochi ice cream balls. ugh. i’m totally like smokin’ joe in the higher weight class now. i’ve been drinking too much beer lately, or “one too many burritos” like paul said.

i watched korean television again. the korean women look like aliens with their fake eyelids and nose bridges. “abduct me.”

I did some upper body strength training and some ab sculpting, but i think i really need to train my arm muscles on some of the equipment at the gym. “i’m just not seeing results.”

i had a yogurt for lunch today and it was apple turnover flavor. it had nice pieces of apple in it. but i’m waiting for yoplait to make some more satisfying, savory flavors. i thought about: chicken pot pie, split pea soup, spinach lasagna, eggs and ham (that one might be gross), spicy taco (haha), and crab cake. okay.

i googled the dish i ate at the russian-georgian restaurant. it was delicious and seems easy to make. it’s called chakhokhbili.

i’m going to go relax now.
